Tales From the Crib: Week 27

Recycle! Save the Earth! And all that good stuff.  Anywho…

I got teeth! I got teeth! Teeeeeeth! Two of them!

I woke up Wednesday morning, grabbed Mommy’s finger, and bit her!  Hahaha.  Don’t worry, I’m not turning in to Hannibal Lecter, I just wanted to show her my new teethies.  I’ve been pulling at my ear lately, but Daddy thought I was just playing a game that Grandpa Dan showed me, and Mommy thought I was getting a sicky ear, but silly parents–I was getting teeth!  And inquiring minds want to know…no, Mommy is not making me wean from nursing just because I have teeth now.  I’ve only bit her one time, and I was half-asleep, so it was an accident.  No big deal, guys!

We did some work in the yard and to the sunroom this week.
Oh, sorry.  Maybe Daddy did all the work while me and Mommy napped outside on the swing.  Daddy washed all the windows and walls and pulled up the old yucky carpet.  Mommy swept and put down a new rug.  I played.
Here’s a picture of the sunroom shortly after we moved in:
And here it is now:
Daddy even installed a new light!
Again, still a lot to be done, but I can play in here and that’s all that matters!
Then Mommy realized I’m getting bigger and she’s getting smaller and we don’t have enough clothes for vacation, so off to the mall we went!  Mommy tried on all kinds of clothes while I cooed at this handsome baby in the mirror. Two other babies had complete meltdowns in the store.  Mommy wheeled me by in my stroller, and I smiled at the one dude, like chill guy, relax, but it just made him scream louder.  What the heck?!  Then a little 2 year old girl came up to my stroller to flirt talk, and I was bigger than she was!  But she could walk already. Totally unfair.
On Friday, Mommy had to go to a meeting at work, so Daddy came home to stay with me.  BUT, he got called to meeting, too, so he had his meeting at Olive Garden and I got to go!  Yum Yum Yum (Daddy lets me eat the good stuff!)  Then he dropped me off to Mommy’s work, so I got to play with Kathi while Mommy finished up.
On Saturday, Mommy and Daddy had their first baby-free date night.  Without me!  They were supposed to go to a work party, but it was lame, so they bailed and went to the see The Hunger Games (Mommy read the books and says that they actually did a good job with the movie, so check it out!)  Grandma and Auntie Amy drove all the way to Lima to stay with me.  And get this, I was okay for a whole 4 hours! Even past my bedtime!  But I fell asleep as soon as Mommy got home–even before Grandma pulled out of the driveway.  Auntie Amy is exhausting!

Look! More cute picture of me:

(Hiiii, Everybody!)

(Why, yes, that is Daddy asleep while watching me.  And yes, I am going to try to pull up and get to the electronics while I think no one is watching me.)

(I’m practicing my teenage angst face.)

(Hangin’ out with Baby Olly.  He doesn’t have a special seat like me.)

Tales From the Crib: Week 26

Can you believe this weather?  I can’t.  It’s so much fun!  I get to go outside to play every day!

Even my diapers get to go outside to play!

(Yay for not having to run the dryer in 80 degree weather!)

I like to sit in the front yard so I can watch all of the cars go by.

I like to ride in my stroller, too.  Me and mommy take a walk a few times a day, and we run into all kinds of other babies and mommies.  We almost got attacked by a stray dog one time—that wasn’t so much fun…

Oh, and I got my very first passport! Yay!  I can go anywhere in the whole world now.

On Monday, I got to go to Cincinnati, AGAIN, to see Grandma.  I stayed with her while Mommy got her hair cut.  Grandma helped me make potato soup and cookies for St. Patrick’s Day!  I’m sure they were delicious, but I wouldn’t know.  Mommy wouldn’t let me have any.

But I am apparently allowed to have crapt yucky stuff.  Oh yum, sweet potatoes.  So much yummier than potato soup and cookies, Mom.

(What mess?)

I’m just kidding—Mommy lets me get a kid’s size taco with rice and beans from Chipotle, and I eat almost the whole thing!  And then the whole thing ends up in my diaper…glad Mommy got the diaper sprayer hooked up!

On Wednesday, Daddy and I went to the…ZOO! Mommy had to work in Toledo, and I won’t let her go away from me for the whole day, so we all went together!  Daddy took me to the zoo for a couple of hours.  I got to see a baby elephant! And penguins! And a polar bear who was diving and swimming.  He took my new sippy cup and my Baby Mum Mums and I did a good job!  My Daddy was the only Daddy there—with lots of other Mommies—I think they felt sorry for Daddy, or they thought he was a cute single Dad.  Watch out, Mommy!

(I really liked the duckies!)

(And snack time)

(And penguins–just like Daddy!)

Oh, yep.  Did you see that?  My new SIPPY CUP!  This one has a straw.  I like it.  I can hold it and drink it all by myself.  Because I’m drinking some water throughout the day, I’ve cut out a nursing session with Mommy.  Mommy says that extra 20 minutes in between sessions feels like an eternity.

We also made some progress on the house.  Do you want to see.  Here’s the Family Room before…

and here it is now…

Still lots to do, but much better!

Speaking of house projects, I have to go.  We’re working on the yard work now!  Off to Menards (it’s one of my favorite places)…

Tales From the Crib: Week 25

Mommy got me a kitty! Kind of…

This a sad story so get your hankies out.  There was an old woman who lived in our house before us.  We suspect that she had a kitty, and that her kids forced her into a nursing home, and then said kids kicked the kitty outside and he has been on his own for a year.  He showed up the first day we moved in and meowed at the door.  He’s been living in our bushes, but when we came home the other day, he ran right into the house!  Mommy tried to chase him down, but he seems to know his way around the house (hence the fact we think he used to live here).  He went into the bedroom and meowed and looked around forever.  I think he was looking for the lady.  He finally curled up in my rocking chair in the sunshine, and Mommy gave him some food then put him back outside.  She had to lure him out with food, then run in a circle to discombobulate him, then run back in when he wasn’t looking.  We named him Seuss (cause, you know, the Cat and the Hat).  He comes in sometimes when Mommy isn’t looking.  But when he meows, I cry, so Mommy puts him outside.  Then he meows and paws at the door, so Mommy lets him in.  Then he meows, so I cry.  It’s an all-day affair.  But Mommy says we have to be kind to kitties and other animals, even if they’re not ours, so we help to keep him safe and fed.

In other news, Friday was Mandy’s birthday, so we all went out and got smashed had a quiet party.  We went to Yamato’s Japanese Steakhouse—a hibachi!  There were flames! Crazy.

But Mommy wouldn’t let the guy squirt Sake at Daddy.  Boo, Mommy always rains on the parade.  I had fun and even ate part of Mommy’s seaweed salad!  Afterwards we had game night at Brad’s house.  I wanted to go to sleepy but I couldn’t cause it was noisy and it wasn’t my bed.  That’s okay, I helped Mommy and Daddy kick ass–oh sorry, apparently only Daddy is  allowed to say that–win…well, Mommy carried the team.  Daddy did this:

Friday was a busy day because we also got our new countertops installed! Yay!  They look so great.  Now we just have to put the backsplash up, paint the trim, paint the soffits, organize the cabinets…oh, man, this house stuff is hard work.  Here’s a sneak peek:

Earlier in the week I got to go to Grandma’s house cause Daddy had a meeting in Cincinnati.  Grandma, Mommy, and me went shopping and Grandma bought me a xylophone!  I love noisy toys!  Though, I keep forgetting that the mallet isn’t a spoon.  Mommy bought me some shorts and clothes for the cruise.

The weather has been really nice here.  Mommy took me on a 3.5 mile walk.  I was exhausted afterwards—riding in the stroller is hard work.

Oh, oh! And last week I learned I CAN fall asleep by myself…this week I learned I don’t HAVE to. Muahahaha…

Tales From the Crib: Week 24

This was the best week EVER!  First, Mommy took me to the toy store.  Then, I got to go over to Chris’ to play while Mommy went to work. Then, Uncle Dannel and his girlfriend came to visit. Then, Angela and Kat came over to play. Then, wait for it…wait for it…we booked a vacation!

Somehow, Mommy’s idea to drive to Myrtle Beach for an extended weekend in July turned into driving to Daytona in April, which turned into flying to Miami in March, which turned into going on a cruise in April.  Whew.  I’m exhausted just thinking about it, so I’m sure Mommy is exhausted from all the pricing out and research.  We’re going on a 7-Night Caribbean cruise out of New Orleans, with stops in Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel.  So, I get to ride on an airplane and a cruise ship!  I’m all ready to go!

Earlier in the week, we went to Toys R Us.  I got My Pal Scout—he knows my name and sings songs about me and he likes carrots, just like me!

I also got a keyboard that plays music, and when I get bigger, I can hook it up to the TV to play games.

Monday night, Mommy had to go to work, so Chris said I can come over to his house to play.  He bought me a book and kangaroo (not a real one—that’d be silly).  I love it sooooo much.  Too bad I could only stay an hour and 15 minutes before I got too cranky and Mommy had to come get me.

AND, I’m happy to report…I can go to sleep all by myself! Last Sunday, after my baptism, Mommy and I took a 3 hour nap.  Then, at bedtime, Mommy laid me in the bed to arrange the blankets, and when she turned around, I was asleep!  I did this for naps and bedtime all week—Mommy just laid me down, played some lullabies, and I cuddled right up and went to sleep! (Yes, she’s tried this many, many time before).  I’m trying really hard to be a big boy now, but I still have lots of problems staying asleep.  I woke up almost every hour all night…I guess that kind of negates the whole falling asleep on my own thing…whop whop.  But my naps have been a bit longer, so I’m getting the hang of this whole sleeping thing.

Well, I have to go now.  Mommy needs me to try on all kinds of clothes…yes, we’re packing for vacation a month early.  We’re overachievers around here.

Random Cute Pictures of Me:

(Yep.  Sometimes I play with Daddy’s toys when he’s not home.)

(I got too big for my Jumperoo, so Mommy made it higher…a little too high!)
